Hi Rory
I wrote about this the other day so am familiar with what you are experiencing.
It appears this is FB not playing nice with voice over. I’ve been told and the 
problem reproduced by someone from Apple that the screen looks al messed up 
once you click on a posting and go to the next page. He was able to go back and 
then click on the post and get it working but I cannot do that. I have 
reinstalled the app with no luck though Sarah says her friend does this to fix 
the problem. I rebooted, did a hard reset and still have the same problem. I am 
using an iPhone 6 with all the latest updates.
I wrote to FB but we know how that goes.
I am waiting for an FB update to see if anything changes. Otherwise, so far 
have seen no fix for this.
