That shouldn’t be happening. Remember that VO-t will check the text
attributes of highlighted text. You can also turn on text attributes to have
changes announced as you proof read a document.

Thespell checker on the Mac has a grammar checker. You need to check it
from the edit menu of the application you're using. At least, I think that's
how it works. It is accessible, but I have not used it all that much, so I
don't know exactly how it works.
