You asked me this question in another thread so I think I'll just
answer it here now that I'm reading this email. I have a macbook white
from 2008. I got it because that is what the scholarship organization
that bought it for me chose. I mean they knew that I wanted a mac, so
I think they went for the most economic option. Either way it works
fine for me. I like it's somewhat more compact size. It still get's
pretty decent battery life which is good. I can't say that I like the
external speakers as much as the ones on my old macbook pro, which we
got back in 2006 for high school graduation, but that's not a big
deal. I have since then upgraded the ram and the harddrive, so now it
has a 320 gb hd with 4 gb of ram. I don't think you could do that on
the modern notebooks though, unless you were skilled at  soldering.
