Hi Barbara,
*my mom’s name was Barbara smiles*
some of your mail issues can be changed in mail preferences. Personally, I like
my inbox to put new emails at bottom and old at top, this is an option in the
view tab of mail prefs,command-comma is how to open the mail prefs, then tab to
view, and keep tabbing past last tab to get to the various settings within the
view menu
you might want to explore some other tabs in there, just vo/space on the tab you
want and tab to get to its menus,I visit it a lot, there’s also the vo/M and
then move right arrow through these menu choices few more options to explore.
oh once you find one then just down arrow through its choices,to make a
selection,vo/spacebar it
one beautiful thing in mail is the dictionary and thesaurus,i use them
frequently
but also is other options to do cool tasks.
btw,all your or most of them applications have preferences and you get to them
after the application is open same way as mentioned here in mail,command-comma
sorry your having so many issues,i know how frustrating it can be. i went from
window’s to Mac with Yosemite and no prior knowledge to the Mac.
One thing Apple did for High Sierra as far as voiceover goes to change settings
on the fly which I as a Mac user do not like one bit apple!
it used to be just press of the control-command-option with arrow keys, now they
want you to add the shift key with those other ones as well to change vo
settings such as rate, pitch, etc. I don’t like the shift key as part of this
sequence,John you can address that to Apple on my behalf, smiles

Thank you John. Every time I leave the mail program, I return to the very first
Email and have to arrow down past all the messages to get to the latest one
even though it is set to read the newest first.
Obviously, the computer is still not functioning correctly because I keep
getting a message to log in even though it has been set to not do that. My caps
lock does not say caps lock and a number of other issues need to be resolved
with Apple like a mail message reading while I am in text edit or some other
application.
the person I am working with says it is because I transferred data with Time
Machine but you would think it’s their product, so it would be flawless.
He also says because I was using Mavericks that transferring data to High
Sierra could also be causing problems. He also said doing a software update
would resolve all the issues but it has not. (frown)
Loads of fun! thanks for all your help.

Sometimes I delete a message in mail that I need to retrieve. I used to
go into trash, interact and pressshift, function and the vo keys to get to
the top of the list. Then I would search for the mailbox.
but those keystrokes are no longer working and the only way to the top for
me is to arrow up. This can take a very long time if there are a number of
messages.
anyone know how to do this now?
Thank you
Barbara
