For the record Thunderbolt 3 is used by many PC’s apart from just Mac so - as
has been already stated - the prices have come down considerably.
If you have purchased a Mc in the last 3 or so years then it is more than
likely your Mac will have at least 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports on it.
If you have purchased a Mac in the last 7 years then it’s probable that your
Mac will have at least 1 Thunderbolt 2 Port to make use of.
I have one Thunderbolt 3 drive here and if performance is what I wanted in a
drive then I certainly have it, never seen anything quite so fast.
I use a Thunderbolt 3 docking station with my MacBook Pro which allows
connection to a wide variety of devices that I couldn’t otherwise use with the
MacBook Pro, connections for external speakers, microphones and line/in, a lot
of USB-A devices, digital audio out, SD card reader etc.

You can add external graphics processors. They make a small box that
you can plug in to a Mac that has a lot of GPU power in it. Something

1, the usb-c cables are not that expensive. 2, there is no
thunderbolt port on the new mac mini, it has 4 usb-c ports, and 2
usb 3.0 the only other ports is a 3.5 headphone jack, a eithernet
port, and HDMI port for monitor.

I’m sure you’re aware that the new Mac Mini models have uSB-C and
Thudnerbolt connections rather than the USB-A connections we still
think of as standard? That particular point has been the main
reason why I haven’t upgraded to the new Mac Mini model, would
cost me quite a bit to purchase hew USB-C and thunderbolt cables
not to mention adapters, drives etc.
Things have changed in that area a little now since I bought my
Caldigit Thunderbolt dock so I’ll purchase another of those when I
do buy the new Mac Mini model.

To be clear, it will be a 2018 MacMini, your just buying it in
2020, the only thing apple did with the macmini this year, is make
them less expensive. To answer your other question, command f5
will turn on voiceover. The command key is just to the left and
right of the space bar. And once your setup and running, you
would go to the apple menu, go to about, and there you will find
everything you need to know about your MacMini. Hope you have a
keyboard, or purchased 1, because the MacMini does not come with
keyboard, monitor, or mouse. HTH
