Following is an excerpt from my book on mail. I hope it helps a bit.
showing and hiding the other folders
Suppose you want to not have your mail app look like the one in the screenshot.
This is where a very important keystroke comes in handy. You can also do this
from the view menu. The screenshot is just an example. Your mail app might look
different. To accomplish this task, you can do the following.
•launch the mail app.
•highlight your inbox folder or focus in the messages list.
•hit command shift m to hide/show the folders list.
Note that this keystroke mentioned in the steps above is a toggle meaning you
can hit this key stroke to both show and hide the list, but not at the same
time. The following screenshot shows the minimalistic interface. Notice the
inbox is only shown.
I didn't include the screenshot, and sorry about the humor. I had to be
slightly funny. Lol!
Blessings and happy Thursday

I am wondering when in the mail app, when I shift tab to try and access
another mailbox such as junk, I only see the 3 mailboxes that are on my
favorites bar. How do I get the rest of the mailboxes to show? Also, there
seems to be a really annoying bug I’ve noticed when using VoiceOver while
playing audio. All of a sudden the volume will just get really loud to where
you almost can’t hear what VoiceOver is saying. This is when using audio
ducking. At least I finally got the thing working. Had to run the update from
recovery mode to get it to install correctly.************
