This is a known bug Apple is working to resolve this although I do not have a
time frame. THere’s a great VO script you can use though that sets right
option b to read back the battery level which it does correctly and or you can
ask Siri.

to get an app called Coconut battery helper. This app will reside in the
extras menu and will tell you your battery percentage.
