If you are using a laptop keyboard, the page navigation commands are a bit
more limited. I've found that setting commands up in the Keyboard commander can
overcome this shortcoming. I haven't noticed, though, the page change not being
announced. I'll have to pay attention and see if there is a way to make it
announce the change.

You might have to go into System Preferences and select the trackpad to
disable these gestures. Provided you have trackpad commander turns don,
VoiceOver gestures should work.
