Dear Sirs:
I am studying the history of the reaction of mercury and oxygen.Are there descriptions of that reaction other than those by Lavoisier (the twelve day experiment), by Eck von Sulzbach (cited by Kopp and Hoefer) and by Maslama (cited by Holmyard and Leicester)? I know about the experiments performed by Lomonosov and Priestley but I lack their descriptions. I would also welcome information about the reverse reaction, i.e the thermal decomposition of the oxide.
