My apologies for incorrectly posting the program webpage for the UNH
Research Experiences for Teachers in Engineering. The correct address is
http://leitzelcenter.unh.edu/RETE. Please do not use the address listed in
the body of the announcement below.

Thanks,

The UNH Dept. of Engineering, along with the Leitzel Center for Mathematics,
Science, and Engineering Education are offering Summer Research Experiences
for teachers. This offering is supported by grant support from the National
Science Foundation's Directorate for Engineering (ENG-1132648). For more
information and an application, please visit http://leitzelcenter.unh/RETE/.
Applications will be accepted until May 18, 2012. Please ignore any notes
about March 31 deadlines.

The 2012 RETE will be held at the UNH campus in Durham, NH during the
summer. The duration will typically be seven continuous weeks (there is
some scheduling flexibility) beginning the last week in June. Activities
take place during a normal five-day per week schedule with holidays and
weekends off (except where research schedule dictates). The RETE will end
the 2nd week in August. This is a full-time commitment. Room and board (in
a single-occupancy UNH dormitory) is provided for individuals wishing to
stay on campus to minimize commuting time and expenses and to take full
advantage of university resources (laboratories, libraries, computer
clusters, etc.). Commuters will receive a meal card loaded with some meals
for lunch and for occasional dinners with the group.

The specific goals for the RETE are:

***Providing pre- and in-service middle school, high school, teacher-leaders
with an intensive summer research experience in an engineering field.

***Creating a community of educators, including teacher-leaders, faculty
members, and university students, with research experience and teaching
knowledge to assist one another as they develop and implement inquiry-based
engineering activities.

***Providing access to equipment and materials for inquiry-based learning
modules through the established UNH Advancing Science Program throughout
northern New England.

Benefits of Participation

The RETE program is designed to meet the varied needs of a diverse group of
current and future teachers at the middle and high school levels. Benefits
to participating in the program include:

**Placement in an engineering research group, led by a UNH engineering
faculty member; **Conducting authentic engineering research as part of team
of faculty and graduate students; **Access to state-of-the art laboratory,
fabrication, testing, and simulation facilities; **$570/wk stipend; **Room
and board for residential campus experience; lunch and mileage reimbursement
for commuting participants; **Up to $1,000 allowance for purchase of
materials and supplies to bring engineering curriculum into your classroom
**Participation in a Community of Learners comprised of teachers working to
bring engineering research practice into the classroom.

For more information and an application, please visit
http://leitzelcenter.unh/RETE/. Applications will be accepted until May 18,
2012. Please ignore any notes about March 31 deadlines.
