Sandy, I thank Diane for the kind plug. Bridgewater State College does not have a formal "major" in green chemistry, however both green chemistry and sustainability are central to the strategic plans of both the college and the chemistry department. My teaching and research focuses on green chemistry, and our new $98M science & math building will have a "Laboratory for Green Chemistry Education" (we move in summer 2011). We have also recently begun to include green chemistry as part of the professional development offered to regional science teachers. I would be happy to speak with you and/or your student. Although very few undergraduate programs have a formal major in green chemistry, besides BSC there are a number of excellent colleges and universities in MA where green chemistry is part of the undergraduate curriculum (my apologies if I missed any): Gordon College Worcester State College Suffolk University Simmons College UMASS Boston Green Chemistry is a very smart career choice, and was listed as one of the top future careers in the July 2009 issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education. Feel free to contact me at any time!
