Last weekend the local HPV-group in Malmo, Sweden had a visit from its neighbouring capital Copenhagen. It was Dirk Bonne and his 20" python.

We had a very enjoyable meeting where it was put beyond doubt that Dirk's python is very stable and not difficult to ride. Three out of five HPV-members could instantly ride the thing.

I filmed an interview with Dirk that is available here:

Dirk Bonne (Bonné?)

It's Bonné, my family comes from the north of France.
I'm slowly loosing the accent on my name though.
<doomsdaythinking>
Accents on names are one of the things that will disappear with globalisation ---accents are to small for this ascii dominated world.
The same counts for the " on the u in your name, Jürgen. </doomsdaythinking>

Dirk, would you mind me linking this video?

I wouldn't mind at all! But I guess it is Olaf who should give his ok. I am just the victim ;-)

BTW, there is a very nice clip of Christian on the python at

Fotos and films where taken by Jan Inge.

the direct link to that clip is:

How is it possible to come from Copenhagen to Malmo by bike?
Is there a bridge crossing the Oresund or do you have ferries?

Like Torben says, it really costs an arm and a leg. So although you can see Sweden from Kopenhagen, in a financial way it lies very far. Public transport is the sad part of Danmark/Sweden. 28€ is a lot to pay for 40kms in all.

All the more reason to think about options of using HP to cross the
water. Make a kind of python-boat-adaptor. I image riding a few kms
northwards (the more northward you cycle the nearer Sweden lies).
Somewhere my python-2-boat adaptor would be shored. Put my python
on it, the wheel driving a propellor. Cross the water. Leave the adaptor
behind. Go touring in Sweden. Go back the same way.

The python-2-boat adaptor could be some kind of catamaran with a propellor driven by the front wheel (power transfer simular to an excercise stand).

May be it is not realistic/practical: oxidation of the parts, where do I
store the adaptor, speed, distance, legality(?)), but it is fun dreaming about it anyway.
