[python] Re: Fw: [Freelists News] FreeLists to get an upgrade this weekend

It's been pretty cold here - too cold for me to work in my poorly insulated
garage. The main thing I wanted to do was slap some handle bars on the
python so I could maybe get a better feel for riding it. Once I get the
hang of it, I can always remove them and add a set off stubbies under the
seat like most others have. I want to make a trike rear end for it and
noticed the one guy on the list added a trike rear end but also added an
extra pivot to add "roll" to the frame so the front half could still be
leaned into corners like it was on two wheels instead of three. My question
is, is it really required to have a pivot back there? I think the turning
radius would be affected negatively if there was no rear pivot, but I don't
know by how much. I also think that the front end's deflection would need
to be greater (possibly MUCH greater) for any given turn when compared to
the 2 wheel version and the angle of the riders legs would also have to be
much greater in relation to the bike's center line. How much more, again, I
don't know. I'm wondering if it might not be a problem at all and just
might feel a little weird because of the flatter style of turning.

Anyway, we're gearing up for some ice races in Brantford, Ontario, Canada
(http://www.hptabrant.ca/icerace.htm), and with a little warm weather, I've
finally been able to make some headway on the ice trike I designed.
http://bikes.jkcc.com/temp/ Tomorrow, all I need to do is make the rear
seat support and run the chainline. I should have it out for a test drive
Wednesday night, and in for powder coating either Thursday or Friday. Once
that's done with, I'll be back on the python and hopefully by then, enough
snow will have melted that I can actually ride it :)
