The bottom bracket of the Knirps seems a bit too high. That might cause instability due to wheelflop. However I am always careful with statements about rideability, especially from novices: Most people will consider every center steered bike unrideable after their first tries.

So, the knirps is foldable but not so rideable, while the Monty rides well but is not so foldable...I think there is room for study here. I would love a bike I could fold for trips to other islands. He experienced wheel flop. Unfortunately, the knirps has already been canibalized and rebuilt into a Zox-like lowracer. I think the crunk was too high. It's a petty he didn't discuss the issue within the mailinglist. It could have become a very good project. cheers ThomasJürgen Mages<jmages@xxxxxx> 24-03-11 21:17 >>>Hello all, yesterday I received a link to a minimalistic python-style folding recumbent: http://www.ad-bike.de/knirps.htm It is quite similar to Olaf's Monty and uses an Airbike hammock seat. The Sachs Duomatic hub has 2 gears which are shifted by slightly pedalling backwards. Cheers, Jürgen.
