Maybe you should try to adapt it then copying it. It wasn't the lightest
solution but definitely a pretty strong one. I used tapered-roller-bearings
with a 20mm inner diameter. They can handle a hell of a load, need a
fitting housing and aren't sealed. Somehow not having any sealings wasn't a
big problem as the grease held the most of mist away.
By the way, the bike was sold four years ago to guy north of Hamburg. After
that I wrote my master thesis about a smaller folding travel version. The
marks for the thesis were good as only I knew most of the problems the
design contained.
Currently I don't have a recumbent. Just follow most of the stuff on this
channel.
