especially for cylindrical shapes and tube-like pieces that are
laminated ofer foam or any kind of core there are easy ways to get
nice results.

"open end" pieces (eg tubes that have at least one "reachable" end):
after adding the last layer of glas/c-fiber/basalt/whatsoever tightly
wrap the piece with peelply tape (use tape! as you can wrap it really
tight) add a layer of vacuum fleece or - the cheaper way - loo paper.

put a piece of pvc shrink tube ofer the tube and shrink with a heat
gun at ~150°c. the shrink tube creates a bit of comression while the
heat makes the epoxy more fluid and curing better and faster.

using only shrink tube you can also create extremely clossy surfaces
on composite tubes, but thats another story...

sections that are not "open end" can be treate similar, but instead of
shrinking you just wrap it tightly with perforated electrical tape for
some compression. there is also some shrink tape on the market for
that purpose, but i never tried as its quite expenisve where as the
peel ply / electrical tape method costs allmost nothing.
