Then I made a rectangular bracket around it that the front frame is welded to; the screws go through it into the center bearing shaft. I welded the front dropouts last, as their final placement compensates for slight asymmetry in the front frame. I used levels, squares rulers on a level floor for alignment (I did tile and stone for ~14 years). All joints were tacked, then measured and bent/tweaked before weld-filling, I had to cut a couple of tacks and start them over. >In all cases it is good to have something real to experiment with. it will be interesting...
