If you go the route of adding a scripts folder to your path, you might
want to consider putting the export line in .bash_profile. I don't
fully understand the distinction between .bash_profile and .bashrc and
know nothing of the conventions to what goes in which, but best I can
tell, .bash_profile is executed at login, while .bashrc is only
executed if .bash_profile includes the appropriate source line.
