Amanda, sorry can't help you off-hand with where to change it, but, yes, it
sounds like your keyboard layout might be set to something like english UK -
that's just a guess.
Here's an online forum topic relating to changing/setting locale, and they
seem to be mentioning using command line commands to work with config, etc.:
