I am pleased you find this a friendly list.
Sadly in the last few years I have not been able to dedicate as much
time to Raspberry VI, either this list or the Web site as I did in the
first years of it.
But that may be changing now we are all locked in for the foreseeable
future.
I have been around for a long time. I first used Unix in about 1990,
and was a mainframe COBOL programmer for about five years after that.
While I was there I got involved in cix.compulink, which pre-dated the
Web. I was on lots of lists and was the creator and admin of a Btrieve
list on there.
Before that I was on Unix newsgroups a lot.
And I have seen similar things you hint at.
I always refer to the "RTFM dude" brigade as either "elbow patches" or
"stained t-shirt troglodytes."
On lots of those newsgroups, if a newbie dared to ask a question they
were pounced on by people who did little more than grunt.
I won't tolerate that here. There is no such thing as a stupid question.
We see that behaviour even now on some lists and forums. For example
Linux newbies keen to start who stick there heads over the parapet and
ask a question about, for example, Ubuntu, only to be trolled and told
by hundreds they should be using Mint/Arch/Fedora/Gentoo.
Result...newbie goes back to Windows.

shyness stays with me. And that is all I will say.
