Hello list, I have just bought some mini bread-boards from modmypi. Each of these is about the size of a box of safety matches and has a central divide along the longer dimension. These boards can snap together very easily so they can be used for very simple prototypes individually, or more can be snapped together for more complex circuits. The central divide also makes the rows of gripping holes on either side exactly .3 of an inch apart. The perfect size to bridge with a typical DIL chip, like a shift-register or a CMOS gate chip. I connect these to the GPIO bus on a Pi by using another product I bought from modmypi, an 'Adafruit Cobbler'. This is a length of ribbon cable with a GPIO header plug on each end. One end plugs into the Pi GPIO bus, and the other end into an assembly which splits the two rows of pins further apart. Far enough apart to bridge the central divide of a mini bread-board. Prices are very reasonable and delivery is always very fast. I have no connection with modmypi and don't post this for any reason other than I like to share good experiences and ideas.
