Rasbian, the official Raspberry Pi OS is basically Debian optimized for the Pi.
As for Orca, while I haven't tried it myself, prior reports indicate
that Orca is too heavy for the Pi to handle without an USB sound
adapter. Granted, since your goal is magnification rather than
text-to-speech, perhaps you could get the magnifier component of Orca
working on a stock PI.
