Hello Timothy,
The keyboard response on the Arch image is not too hot. It's because of
the latency introduced by speech-dispatcher.
I hope to have all the audio problems fixed soon because I have
discovered a way to render audio directly on the GPU and thus not use
the nasty Broadcom sound driver at all.
To do this I have to write some new complex threaded audio code for espeak.
Hopefully if I can get this done then I will be able to abandon
speech-dispatcher for the short-term until I can also write a GPU sound
driver for speech-dispatcher.
Writing new audio code for espeak will also mean Emacspeak will work
again properly.
No more stuttering or crashes caused by VCHIQ, since this method writes
directly to the VCHI.
