Hello folks,
I currently have a Raspbian Mate image with Orca running.
This was created by using the Jessie lite image.
Currently there is one problem, which is that the lightdm greeter is
silent. So it is necessary to log in to the desktop silently.
If I can work out why this is I will then compress the image down to
it's minimum size and post it.
I may also leave speech-dispatcher set up for pulseaudio and use my OMX
audio code for the console speech. This will make it possible for
people to use the image if they don't yet have a USB audio dongle
without stuttering console speech.
It will also make the speech in the desktop less inclined to speak over
itself I think.
I will release the image as a minimalist image, that is:
* No browser installed
* No Libre Office installed
* No other applications other than what comes out-of-the-box with the
Mate desktop.
I have no idea currently why lightdm is silent, I have added the user to
the audio group and set the accessibility flag for pi and root. Don't
think I can do that for lightdm as there is no way of logging in as lightdm.
Any ideas?
Currently I have only run this on a Pi3, not yet on a Pi2 so I don't
know if a 2 will choke.
I might also now have some clues as to why LXDE was silent.
