Hello, Early testing of the newly uploaded image has found a problem, and it's a really stupid one. I will explain. This will teach me not to rely on SSH and to plug in a keyboard before I upload the image. 1. We know that eSpeak stutters when it uses portaudio. 2. We also know that when pulseaudio is running eSpeak uses that and that with pulseaudio it does not stutter. Now here comes the stupid bit. The stand-alone program espeak, which lives in /usr/bin and which is what is being used when you do stuff like: dmesg | espeak Works fine with pulseaudio. But it now seems, and trust me to only find this after I have uploaded the image, the shared library: /usr/lib/libespeak.so Is NOT compiled in the same way and is still using portaudio. It is this library that espeakup, the speakup to espeak connector, is using. How annoying is that? I will fix it immediately. Talk amongst yourselves :) Mike -- Michael A.
