That almost sounds like syslog is pointed at a virtual console. I would try
switching to the next virtual console and see if that one is clear. It is
not uncommon to have a virtual console reserved for syslog output but a login
would never be there.
So, double check you have a clue which console you have.

Hello guys. Thought I’d through out a questions here and see if you have any
potential solutions.
I’ve booted up a pi 3B with arch and can ssh into the machine. I then
installed BRRLTTY and connected a braille display. Here’s where it gets
interesting.
Normally when I connect a display to linux machines I get a login screen. But
something is different here.
when I navigate round the screen, I see a bunch of system messages similar to
what would appear in a dmesg command.
If I hit the enter key, I get a login prompt, but it goes away after a few
seconds.
Any ideas on how to get back the normal login screen?
