[raspberry-vi] Telnet into RPI

Hi,
I am trying to see if I can Telnet into my RPI's a prelude to attempting to
connect with a notetaker.
So I SSHed into my RPI from my Linux netbook, and installed Telnet to the
RPI, and then exited from the RPI, and from my Windows laptop, using Putty,
not a handy program to use, but it should work, I tried to Telnet into the
RPI, and it says connection refused.
Does anyone have experience using Telnet into Linux?
I know it's not secure, but for connecting two devices via a wire, which is
the eventual plan, I'm not worried about the security.
