Hi Scott and all,
It's good to see you around, Scott, if I may say so. You write
I use customized batteries so not sure what the best generally available option
is.
I have been considering trying for a customized option but can't find
what I'm after. What I'm after is a USB port outputting 5v and 2 or 3 A. That's
easy. What I'm also after is a method by which I can quickly and easily (camera
apps on a phone don't count), determine how much power is left in the battery
pack. I have bad hearing and don't like disturbing people, so would prefer
vibration or phone display if at all possible. Finally, I'm after pass-through
charging, the plug must charge the battery while the battery charges the
device. The first and third requirements are easy enough. The second is very
difficult. The only solution I've seen is a device sold specifically for the
blind with a price which I can only describe as obscene. Does anyone know how
to resolve these issues in one or multiple packs? Any advice would be very
gratefully received.

Any of the portable charging devices that use USB should probably do the trick,
you’ll want to go with larger one so you have enough juice. I use customized
batteries so not sure what the best generally available option is.

Hello Scott,
Any suggestions on batteries? What if anything do you use?
Thanks.
Dave.

the day when we had to burry TI-99 computers next to payphones to

manageable and easy to hide than a full

Power switch, I honestly wouldn’t bother but that’s me, I don’t know
your use case so don’t want to steer you wrong.
As for the bistro, I use Incredible PBX for the most part.
Thanks

Hello Scott,
Ok, thanks that tells me what you've got and compares to what I have.
Do you have or know where I can get an on/off switch for my Pi?
With regards your phone system what distro are you using?
How did the wireless mesh setup go? I've thought about doing that,
what additional wireless cards if any are you using with your mesh
setup?
A general question is there a battery that I can get so I wouldn't
need the power supply, I could just hook it up and the unit is
cordless standalone?
Thanks.
Dave.

Mine are the ones that come with a break out board, case, card,===========================================================
wires, charger and the pie itself. About $70 if memory serves.
As for what am I doing with mine, as mentioned previously I run
small phone systems on them and I use them as compute packages for
drone flight control.
I’ve also made a WiFi mesh system with them as an experiment.

Hello Scott,
Thanks for your reply. Are you refering to the Canakit? If so,
what version of it do you have starter, ultimate, etc. What are
you running on your pi's, OS and what projects are you using them for?
Thanks.
Dave.

I go with the KaneKit (probably spelled wrong) but the reason is===========================================================
the parts are all easily snapped together by hand and intuitive,
easy to unpack and has everything you need to get up and running

Hello,
I'm going to be in the market for a new Pi and was wanting
recommendations. Does everyone single piece their pi's together
or do you go the kit way? And if the kit which one and what
features or addons made you choose that kit over another?
Thanks.
Dave.
