Thanks Rill,
I had already re-sent, but in my haste, I sent it only back out to myself
instead of back out to the list.
Here's my original message (hopefully in readable form this time - otherwise
all this is so much jibberish again)...
Hello All,
I’m thinking this is a problem specific to Arch Linux, not the Pi itself, but
am curious if anyone else has had issues recently.
I noticed on my Pi3 running Arch Linux, that speech suddenly started cutting
out – but everything was still running fine on it. At the time, I thought it
was related to Bluetooth or wifi connectivity, so wasn’t overly concerned.
Then, my Arch Linux system at home, running on an AMD64 suddenly went silent
after a reboot.
Clarification: It comes up with speech still, but speech drops out not long
after reboot no matter what you’re doing or not doing.
Of course, I checked all the normal suspects. Recently installed items, pulse
audio crushing it, etc.
Many reboots later, still dropping out.
I’m going to hit the internet later today to see if I can’t find out if there’s
anything regarding this issue on the forums / google, but was curious if anyone
else has been experiencing anything similar, as I thought… Well, at least I
have the Pi – and reinstalled Arch on the Pi… but when I did, with a fresh
install, soon after with no extra packages installed, the audio dropped out.
Now, the strange thing. With audio just through the built-in audio jack on the
Pi, things appear to keep going, but of course, that way, you get the broken
speech unless you get Mike’s code going, and although it will compile up fine,
I’ve yet to get it to install on an Arch system. It keeps core dumping – even
with the latest Arch and latest git of Mike’s repo.
I do get periodic errors from the audio stream across the console log with
audio through the built-in jack though.
Anyways, this is my long-winding way of asking if anyone else has had issues,
has thoughts, had success with Mike’s code on Arch, etc.
Blessings to you all.
- Greg

Greg, could you resend that email to the list? We have junk characters instead
of your words.
