Mike, I'm just curious. Have you tried your new code with the banana Pi version of raspbian yet? I'm thinking (possibly in error) since it's supposed to be software compatible with the Raspberry, and since it runs raspbian, this same process should work. -----Original Message----- From: raspberry-vi-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:raspberry-vi-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Ray Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2014 12:14 PM To: raspberry-vi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [raspberry-vi] Version 1! *** This is an EXTERNAL email. If you can, start with a fresh install of Raspbian, and then: # to clone my repo: git clone https://github.com/cromarty/ttsprojects.git Build and install the lib: cd ttsprojects/raspberry-pi/libilctts/build sudo ./build.sh Now build and install piespeakup and dependancies (espeak only) cd ../../piespeakup sudo ./build.sh When this finishes, reboot with a speaker plugged into the analogue audio jack and you should hear it shut down and then after a while it starts to boot again and comes up speaking. Changing to hdmi audio: I would be grateful if somebody with an HDMI monitor could test HDMI audio... sudo nano /etc/default/piespeakup Change: DEVICE=local To: DEVICE=hdmi Save and reboot. Note that at the moment there is no way to switch from local to hdmi without stopping and restarting piespeakup, like this: sudo service piespeakup restart After editing /etc/default/piespeakup I have tested the build process on a fresh card a couple of times but this is an 'alpha' release.
