I don't know what's going on but I still get it at the start and end of any audio. If I do: espeak "Hello world" 2> /dev/null I get 'pop hello world pop'. The 2> redirection to /dev/null suppresses the error messages. I have a USB sound card to test and I am guessing with this there will be no pop.
