Hi, Sandra.
Here are Dan's instructions from the list archives for creating a new
keystroke for the tie.

"... your best bet is to create a new keystroke in the preferences dialog.
I'd
suggest using SHIFT+ENTER since this is not used by Sibelius or JAWS.

Do the following:

Press CONTROL+COMMA to open the preferences dialog.
Press SHIFT+TAB once.
You should be in a list box called "showing page"
Select the item "Menus and Shortcuts".
Press TAB once.
You should be in a combo box and the selected item should be "Access (user
copy).
If it isn't, select that item.
Press TAB again.
You should be in a list box called "menu or category".
Select the item "Keypad (all)"
Press TAB again.
You should be in a list box called "Feature".
Select the item "Enter on keypad".
TAB to the "Add" button and press space.
Another dialog opens called "add keystroke".
Press SHIFT+ENTER on the main keyboard.
Tab to the OK button and press SPACE.
The add keystroke dialog closes and you'll be returned to the preferences
dialog.
Tab to the OK button and press it."

I know for sure that it's the period--between the zero and equals--that
creates the dot. I was pressing the 8 as instructed, not getting the dot but
getting frustrated, searched the list archive, and found the post with the
correction.

I can send you a dirty version of the Sibelius manual--converted from .pdf
to text and not formatted or prettied up, to help you get answers to any
Sibelius-related questions. The manual's saved my tucus a lot.

HTH,
Dani

Sandra,
Maybe the only way you have at the moment is copying the dotted and tied
notes from another score and paste them in your new score. It would let you
go on with the current work. Then I suppose you'd better to reinstall the
Sibelius.
Good luck!
