Chi Chi,
Sorry for the late reply. Just returned late last night from 11 day road
trip. Great job on planning this AUS event!!! Like several others, am
not certain of my schedule but my best guess on preferences would be:
1st: 19-23 Oct
2nd: 27-31 Oct
3rd: 12-16 Oct
I can't do the September dates. Also have some East Coast obligations in
Oct that may change my availability, and won't know those until mid to end
of Summer. In any case, would try to make some if not all of the final
selection dates.
Gotta run. Will be in touch.
ATB,
KD

Hello Fellow Society Members
Well for those who had the courage to attend our April; I am happy to report
all members survived Vegas for another year. So, it is time to move on to a
potential fall outing for a Society get together here in AUSTIN TEXAS or ATX
as it is commonly known.
As you all know the early bird catches the worm!
We'll I'm beginning my planning stage for a SOGAGG TX event this fall..
Your input is needed to get the ball rolling. Please respond to each of the
bold text questions.
TRAVEL
Southwest is probably your best bet since they offer a non-stop flight twice
a day from SD to AUS and return non-stop service.
Currently, the morning flight leaves at 0700 getting into Austin on Central
Time Zone at 1200. (Should allow plenty of time for an afternoon round
before check-in).
Returning flights on Sunday 0700 departure arriving at 0800 in San Diego
with the time change. The evening non-stop leaves at 2100 and arrives in SD
at 2155.
RTrip Cost if booked now is $415. For those SW reward points holders it is
around 26,000 points for a RTrip ticket.
DATES
Dates are always most important. There are two times of the year where
Austin is crazy busy; spring South by SW in March and Austin City Limits
music festival the last weekend in Sep and first weekend in Oct. So keeping
that in mind, please indicate your availability and preferences for the
following dates (note I'm using a Wed start date but we can shift that to
Thursday if needed):
Wed Sep 21 to Sun Sep 25
Wed Oct 12 to Sun Oct 16
Wed Oct 19 to Sun Oct 23
Wed Oct 27 to Sun Oct 31

HOTEL
Securing lodging at a reasonable cost is probably also close to the top of
the list. Unfortunately, AFVC does not offer anything in metro Austin so
that is off the board. So unless someone has a connection with one of the
major hotel chains to get a super rate, the best option may be Sr or Govt
rates for those who qualify. I can try to work with the sales office of the
preferred hotels once we zero in on the numbers of members interested in
making the trip.
Hotel Options:
Marriott Residence Inn University Area Govt Rate = $135/night + tax
