Subject: All TPMGC Events Through April 30 Are Cancelled
The situation with the COVID-19 virus is changing daily as I’m sure you know.
Today the Board reconvened and decided to cancel all club events through April
30th. We will reassess the situation in mid-April to decide on future events.
Check our website for updates about when tournaments will resume.
We have returned tee times for all of our scheduled events at Torrey Pines back
to the golf course. If you already signed up for events on March 26 and/or
April 2, your entry has been cancelled. If you still want to golf that day,
you should make your reservation thru the golf course’s website or app.
I played at Torrey Pines yesterday and I can tell you the course has done
everything possible to make it safe to golf. Carts can now be rented by 1
person at a cost of $20. Carts are thoroughly sanitized after each use. All
ball washers have been removed. Rakes have been removed from the bunkers (if
you land in a footprint, move it). Flagsticks have been removed from the
practice green. Everyone is leaving the flagstick in when putting. In other
words, no one is touching anything. Between staying 6 feet apart and not
touching objects on the golf course, it felt like a safe haven and a break from
all the news we are hearing.
Let’s hope this crisis passes in a reasonable amount of time.
