So very kind of you to make my husband aware of the "plot." The last time
he saw this, it was our garden. I think he began to suspect something was
amiss when I quietly asked him if he thought he could still fit into his
Navy Blues. Of course, there was also that point last Friday when he
overheard me speaking to our lawyer whereby I was ensuring he would modify
our Living Trust to include, in the Will section, the requirement for me to
receive the book of passwords...
To be frank, I've never come across anyone who could cause so much trouble
by doing absolutely nothing. You would think someone who spent 30 years in
the Navy would be used to living in ships' tight quarters where you could
not venture out of its confines without drowning.
He didn't used to be this way, you know. It was around April 15, 2013 when
I noticed the beginnings of mental erosion. He began to speak of being "one
with nature" and then there were the "heights of elation" he encountered
while being deeply embedded in thick forests, river banks and even nearly
impenetrable underbrush. All that time, I thought he was golfing with that
odd society he would allude to from time to time.
Still, his psychiatrist says there's "dim hope" so I'm keeping the shovel in
the garage.
