Several Society Members got back to me, thanks, so I assigned you each a Lead
or Co-Lead area. As described back on 13 May, below is the split of Pre-Day
and Day of Event PGD activities into sub-areas (I actually added one more for
the Scorecards/Pairings). If anyone is able to volunteer that I missed, let me
know, the more the merrier.
As Leads or Co-Leads in a sub-area, I would ask you to do is to prepare an
outline at this stage of what is needed to support your sub-area work. Think
in terms of workflow, materials needed, assistance (how many, what type of
personnel, etc.), logistics (what type, when), pre-planning, and execution in
performing the different work that needs to get done prior to, during and
following the golf course event.
I will work on what I have in mind this weekend and send out so there is some
continuity in our sub-area outlines. This is a start, the next phase will be
combining and contrasting the timing for the different volunteer activities so
we can leverage volunteers that will be needed later in day (e.g., for the
on-course golf event) to support registration events in the early am. First
things first, just an outline for now.
1. Shaft Lead. Scorecards/Pairings
2. OB/Chi-Chi Leads. Pre-Day of Event activities: This would be anything that
could be set up the night before, say 1800ish, in and around the course. The
things that come to mind would be signage, sponsor banners in the
breakfast/lunch area(s), on-course signs, canopies, coolers, registration
tables, etc. SOGAGG volunteer(s) needed.
3. Shaft/Docho Leads. Registration and Pre on-course activities: This would
involve constructing a flow plan for getting golfers from the drop bag area to
registration sign-in to goodie bags distribution to flow and awareness to
golfers of pre on-course events from putting to marshmallow drive to grabbing
breakfast to ushering everyone to their carts. SOGAGG volunteer(s) needed.
4. Shaft Lead. On-course event activities: This has to do with communicating
the planned hole-by-hole details/rules to Divot so it can be communicated to
the volunteers, along with managing the volunteers over the course of the day.
I (Shaft) have this one.
5. Old Slice Lead. Post on-course event activities: This is conceiving a plan
to flow personnel once completed with their golf, gathering scorecards,
forwarding timecards to score keepers, score keepers quickly figuring out
winners, routing golfers to drop off their clubs, returning to the clubhouse to
have lunch, generating an agenda and outline for the MC to thank sponsors, tell
some raunchy jokes, and announce the winners. This would also include the
set-up, day of flow, and money collection for the silent auction. SOGAGG
volunteer(s) needed.
6. OB/Chi-Chi Leads. Post course activities: A lot to do with the Pre-Day of
Event activities, but in reverse, remove signs, remove coolers, canopies,
tables, banners, etc. Recommend this volunteer team with the Pre-Day of Event
coordinator. SOGAGG volunteer(s) needed.
