LOCAL RULES FROM THE MT WOODSON SCORECARD

*       Native Areas are to be played as hazards, and you must proceed
according to the rules of a hazard.

*       Hazards.  In this case, "hazards" implies a lateral water hazard.
For the most part, there are no lines defining the hazard at Mt. Woodson,
which puts the burden on the player to determine the boundary of the hazard.
See below regarding how to play a lateral water hazard.

*       Staked trees are defined as immovable obstructions.

*       Immovable obstructions.  The player may take relief from an
immovable obstruction if the ball lies on the obstruction or the obstruction
interferes with the players stance or stroke.  The player may not take
relief from an immoveable obstruction due to interference with the intended
line of play, unless on the putting green and the obstruction interferes
with the line of putt.  That is, if you must step on it or your stroke will
result in hitting the obstruction, you may take relief.  If not, you must
play the ball as it lies.

*       Flower beds and newly sodded areas are to be played as ground under
repair.

*       See below regarding how to take relief from ground under repair.

*       Where there is fencing (wood, stone, iron), they it defines out of
bounds.

*       The penalty for Out of Bounds is stroke and distance.  That is, the
player must play the ball after dropping as near as possible to the place
from whence the ball was played causing it to go out of bounds.  This can be
the teeing ground.  Any time a ball is hit out of bounds from the teeing
ground, the player may play the next stroke from the teeing ground in the
same manner as usual.  If you might have gone out of bounds, play a
provisional ball. Note that the out of bounds post is part of Out of Bounds
and, unlike a lateral hazard post, cannot be moved to improve the player's
ability to make a stroke.

Relief

Except when the ball is in a

r-Hazard> lateral water hazard, a player may take relief from interference

(i)              Through the Green: If the ball lies

(ii)            In a Bunker: If the ball is in a

bunker, the player must lift the ball and drop it either:

a.      Without penalty, in accordance with Clause (i) above, except that
the
<http://www.usga.org/rules/rules-and-decisions.html#!rule-14253,Nearest-Poin
t-Of-Relief> nearest point of relief must be in the
<http://www.usga.org/rules/rules-and-decisions.html#!rule-14253,Bunker>
bunker and the ball must be dropped in the
<http://www.usga.org/rules/rules-and-decisions.html#!rule-14253,Bunker>
bunker or, if complete relief is impossible, as near as possible to the spot
where the ball lay, but not nearer the
<http://www.usga.org/rules/rules-and-decisions.html#!rule-14253,Hole> hole,
on a part of the
<http://www.usga.org/rules/rules-and-decisions.html#!rule-14253,Course>
course in the
<http://www.usga.org/rules/rules-and-decisions.html#!rule-14253,Bunker>
bunker that affords maximum available relief from the condition; or
b.      Under penalty of one stroke, outside the

bunker keeping the point where the ball lay directly between the

(iii)          On the Putting Green: If the ball lies on the

Except when the ball is in a

Ball Out of Bounds

If a ball is

as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last
played (see Rule

When Provisional Ball Becomes Ball in Play

The player may play a

Ball> provisional ball until he reaches the place where the original ball is
likely to be. If he makes a

Ball> provisional ball from the place where the original ball is likely to
be or from a point nearer the

lost and the
