Hi,
Hope all is well. Unfortunately I am going to miss this event. I know it will
be great.
Have a good day and be safe.Birdie

Thanks for the input sHank. We're hoping you can make it. Any chance you
could just work 24 hours on Thursday and then head for the course? No? Bad
idea, I'm guessing... J
Truly looking forward you and Birdie being with us if at all possible.
Thanks,
/Ace

Hi Dwayne,
I'm a definite maybe as my LA work may get in the way of this great outing, but
will do my best to keep that Friday free.
Some simple game ideas….
Better Nine – After playing round choose the front or back nine (minus ½
handicap)
Odd or Even – (decide Before or After) playing the round count, only the odd or
even holes scores (minus ½ handicap)
Half an Event - After playing round count the two (2) lowest scores for the par
5’s ; two (2) lowest scores for the par 3’s ; five (5) lowest scores for the
par 4’s (minus ½ handicap)
3-3-3 - three (3) lowest scores for the par 3’s ; three (3) lowest scores for
the par 4’s and the three par 5 scores as Mt Woodson only has 3 par 5’s (minus
½ handicap)
Due to Covid concerns, traditional closest to pin marker cannot be used.
However we can provide tape measures (1 per foursome) and each group can then
record their group’s closest shot on each of the five par 3’s. Can either
award prizes or collect a portion of the pool money at the conclusion of the
round.
Also Mt. Woodson has 4 teeing areas (Red, Gold, White, and Blue) and the
difficulty goes up exponentially. Recommend putting our highest handicappers
on the Red and lowest HCs on the Blues with the others split respectively on
the Gold & White tees. This gives our high handicappers a great chance of
winning and also for being closest to the pin winners.
Maybe collect some pool money for 1st/2nd/3rd and closest to pin winners?
Pretty sure Charlie can work up his magic scorecards for any of the above, but
wanted to run them by you first. Let me know if you like any of the above or
can send over some additional ones we use for our Mt. Woodson Couple League
events (lots of two person team format events).
Thanks for hosting what should be an epic event!
John

SOGAGG COLLEAGUES,
We are on for Friday, July 31 at Mount Woodson Golf Course for Mountain High
III.! We have four foursomes locked in starting at 0942 and the arrangements
will be made tomorrow for a fully hosted day for the Society, to wit:
* The round of golf (no check-in required)
* A hearty breakfast (starting around 0830-0845 or whenever you can
make it)
* Drinks and snacks at the turn
* Lunch
We've had a full 16 SOGAGGers each year so far - let's continue the tradition
(unless we can get to 20).
Hooks: I have your shirts and here's the really good news for you: The good
news: You won't have to start paying off your gargantuan number of penalty
beer rounds for this tourney because it's fully hosted. The bad
news: You have to show up in uniform.:)
Brian and Rob: There is some question if your shirts will be ready. It
depends upon whether the Society can agree on your calls signs in time for me
to order and receive them and trust me, it would be a first to have this
evolution complete without the usual massive bloodletting that accompanies the
attaining of a consensus for a call sign (I'm going to write a book).
So your demerit sheet may well begin with Mountain High III.
This has always been a relaxing, enjoyable event that involves mucho golf balls
and large hills and canyons. The air is clean and invigorating. It's kind of
like Steele Canyon with a thyroid condition.
If we can get the 16 nailed down soon, maybe we can talk Rules into creating
his five-star score cards.
Chi Chi: We've had the honor of your presence for Mountain High I and Mountain
High II. Here's hoping you can do so for III.
And, perhaps we can petition sHank to devise a simple yet challenging overall
game to include in the round with the individual foursome arranging any
side-bets they desire.
Please let me know of your participation soonest,
/Ace
