Yes! It was Thumper! I just couldn't remember what it was and had not gone
back into my (extensive) archives to look. The story of how you received that
might just be fodder for an explanation at our next gathering, sir...

Ace,
Thank you AGAIN for your magnificent handling of this (initial) callsign
ballot. I remain (of course) confident that one of the new inductees (if not
both) will commit such a memorable action in the future that it will absolutely
require callsign re-designation. (Do I hear a "hear - hear" from "Shaft" and
"Swamp" regarding the probability of a "there...there...., see what those guys
did?").
Yours truly, the eternal optimist,
"KD" (formerly known as "Thumper")

Subject: [sogagg] TBD-1 and TBD-2 Call Signs
SOGAGG Colleagues,
There is white smoke emanating from the chimney: We have a 75% affirmative
vote for TBD-2: "Lob." Many thanks to each of you for your active
participation during the voting process and for the first time ever, nobody
voting used the SOGAGG collective address, just only to me directly. Okay,
Swamp nearly gave me a heart attack (at first and then after I saw what he was
doing) but that was no-harm, no-foul (and pretty neat).
Swamp: As the sponsor for both Boomer and Lob, please do the honors of
informing them of their official call signs and it would be appreciated if you
would have SOGAGG cc'd on your email in order for the usual piling on that
tends to occur immediately thereafter (masked as congratulations).
I'll follow up with the standard SOGAGG email that informs them of their
overall poor standing within humanity in general...
I will order shirts today.
Thanks again to the Society - you folks are great (and with this complete, the
martini tonight at the Week in Review will taste even better!),
/Ace

Subject: [sogagg] TBD-1 and TBD-2 Call Signs
Fellow Society members,
We have a consensus for TBD-1 (Brian Bowden): "Boomer" received 15 votes to 5
for "Boner." A close vote considering 15 of 20 votes represents exactly 75%,
the minimum for approval.
TBD-2 (Rob Pennoyer) remains undecided. As is tradition when round two does
not garner a 75% affirmative vote for any candidate call sign, the actual vote
totals are provided as a basis for further rounds in the hope that there may be
some flexibility by personnel in terms of rendering a vote change (yes, that
could also make it worse - true). The top two call signs receiving votes were
(in alphabetical order): "Lob" with nine votes and "Shade" with six votes
("Crasher" was eliminated with five votes). Therefore, we need to go to a
(hopefully final) round three.
Round three is more unique: For the five members who voted for "Crasher,"
please submit your vote for either "Lob" or "Shade" (and yes, you can also
advise you now wish to abstain). Also, any of the remaining 15 members who
voted for either "Lob" or "Shade" may indicate they wish to shift their
position, but please vote only if that is the case.
Thanks to all,
/Ace
