You’re a busy man OB but educating our future generations is a noble calling.
Just let me know for the June 28th and I’ve got you down for July.
Cheers,

Ace,
Apologies for the delay in getting back. Thank you, thank you for not only
being our fearless and able leader of our Bad News Bears golf :-) as well as
your generosity in new shirts, but your time for scheduling time in scheduling
these events with our amazing SOGAGG familia.
1) May 24 - this is graduation day and I have to be at school
2) June 28th - Currently have training in Anaheim that week, but seeing if I
can come home Thursday to make Friday’s UTR/STEP. I am hoping to make this
happen and should be able to know next week after checking with the instructor.
I love this event and cause. If I don’t play I will donate my greens fees.
3) Mt Woodson - I will be in Shreveport for more cyber training 29 July thru 1
August. Otherwise should be able to make Mountain High Escape
Thanks again Ace.
V/r and Best,
Rico aka OB

Good Sunday morning fellow SOGAGGers,
It’s a beautiful Mother’s Day and I hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine and
(unusually) dry weather…
Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s time to plan for the May SOGAGG outing and yours
truly is looking forward (REALLY looking forward) to being back out with the
“familia” (hat tip to OB here).
We’re striking out to new territory this month:
· Carlton Oaks Golf Course (Date: Friday, May 24th)
o Very centrally located
o In quite good shape (Rules just played it this week and confirms same)
o Good breakfast/lunch facilities (Note: I’m hosting breakfast so come
hungry)
o Reasonable price for a Friday: $59
o I can’t make tee times until this coming Friday (that works since I’m
arriving back from my D.C. travel Thursday evening)
o Drum roll: Our beautiful new SOGAGG golf shirts should be ready for
distribution. What color, you ask? Blue and Gold…
§ And yes, Brassie will be receiving a White, a Green and a Blue and Gold
shirt.
· Ah but, he will be showing up to play without any of those. Need I
say more? ☺
But wait, there is more:
· The Joint United Through Reading/Support The Enlisted Project
(UTR/STEP) Charity Golf Tournament for Military Families (“Swing for our
Heroes”) (Date: Friday, June 28th)
§ Admiral Baker (North)
· Again, very centrally located
· The following have already committed to supporting this event (as
SOGAGG has done each year since its inception):
o Shaft
o Bagger
o Divot
o Axe
o Chi Chi (our “Man of the North” is once again sacrificing body and soul to
come down and join us)
o Birdie
o Docente Ocho
o WOXOF
o Rules
o sHank
o Ace
· This gives us 11 players to date. It would really be good if we
could get 16 Society members out. I’ve not heard back yet (unless I missed it)
from:
o Skully
o Hazard
o Trek
o Old Slice
· I will pay for all hands up front and we can settle individually
later (paying me does not preclude you from taking the tax deduction if you
itemize your taxes).
· OB is a maybe. Anyone wishing to send threatening letters stating
there will be reprisals if we don’t get full participation contact me for
addresses….
Finally (it’s about time!), please block out the last ten days of July (exact
date to follow) for the 2nd Annual Mount Woodson “Mountain High Escape” SOGAGG
outing of which I’m hosting. Hosting in this case means breakfast, the round
of golf and lunch. Exception: That pitcher(s) of beer being bought by the net
winner. Mount Woodson in July is a “cool” place to play golf and we had an
absolutely wonderful time last year…
A number of action items up there gang, please give me your inputs as soon as
possible.
Cheers for Mother’s Day,
/Ace
13 Unassailable Golf Truths
We're reluctant to say certain things always happen in golf, although it often
feels that way. You always miss that fairway left. You always run out of tees.
There's always a work emergency when you sneak out at lunch. The point is golf
is a game of habits, not all of which are welcome. What are some of the most
universal trends we've noticed? Here's our list.
1
The players in front of you will all be struggling to break 100.
<image001.jpg>
2
The players behind you will be knocking down flagsticks and on your ass all day.
<image002.jpg>
3
The cart girl never has change for a $20.
<image003.jpg>
4
You will bring four clubs with you across the fairway from the cart, and none
will be the right one.
<image004.jpg>
5
Your best ball-striking round of the year will be the round when you don't make
anything.
<image005.jpg>
6
You will have a day where you miss every fairway but make every putt for double
bogey.
<image006.jpg>
7
The moment you notice a hole has a drop area, you ensure you'll be hitting from
the drop area.
<image007.jpg>
8
Your match will come down to a shot in which a maintenance guy will be manning
a deafening leaf blower five feet away.
<image008.jpg>
9
The day you hit it best on the range will be the day you chop it up miserably.
<image009.jpg>
10
That one ball you found in the rough isn't yours.
<image010.png>
11
If you wait for the green to clear on a par 5, you will top your second shot.
<image011.jpg>
12
When a group lets you play through, your ensuing shot will be a disaster.
<image012.jpg>
13
The ONE time you happen to be running late for your tee time will coincide with
shift of a starter who takes his position way too seriously.
