Welcome to the club. Well, it’s kind of a club. It’s labeled a society, but
none of know what that means. You played with us often enough to know that
you’ve made a terrible mistake in letting yourselves be voted in. If you are
rethinking the whole thing, your mind is right.
Regarding rules. We play strictly in compliance with the USGA / R&A “The
Rules of Golf”, except when we don’t. We conscientiously post our scores on
the day we play, except when we don’t get around to it or don’t feel like it.
For your rules pleasure, please also see the attached SOGAGG Local Rules, which
may or may not have been adopted by the society.
On the bright side, in addition to shirts, you will be receiving hats—when we
happen to remember to bring them to an outing that you are attending. Don’t
hold your breath.

Boomer and Lob/Welcome. We’re more than pleased to have you aboard, especially
when contemplating the free booze we’ll be consuming until your shirts arrive.
Truth be known, they may have already arrived but that in no way modulates the
time frame for onward transition to you, as you suspected…
A bit of SOGAGG protocol:
* We could care less about convention
* It’s all about “Fun, Frivolity and Friendship”
* Golf is just the medium that brings us together to enjoy each other’s
company
* We take care of each other
* Because this group needs a LOT of care
* We have no organizational structure
* We’re all peers
* With equal status
* Which is totally different than “standing,” of which we have none
* We have no rules
* Well, we do have one
* Whomever wins the round, buys the round
* The “losers” tend to look up on the shelf and purchase the most
expensive libation being offered
* Even if we don’t like it (because it’s free, you see)
* Okay, we do have maybe yet another
* Any SOGAGGer who shows up at an outing out of uniform, buys the round
* Please see the two sub-bullets above under the first rule
* You must be prepared to “dish it out” and “take it” in copious amounts
* Not to do so will be taken as a sign of weakness
* You will be sent to a “re-education camp” in either Coronado or Mission
Hills for calibration
* Have you ever been in a Turkish prison…?
* Your call sign is never guaranteed to remain as is
* Your actions, the result of your actions, those actions that may be
taken against you, or unwarranted gossip about you can change it
* It will be done in secret and you will not become aware of it until
your new shirts are presented
* The presenter will be accompanied by an armed guard, packing heat
* So, don’t try anything cute
* This is a classified SOGAGG document
* It carries the security level of “Burn Before Reading”
* There are strong penalties for non-compliance
* Have you ever been in a Turkish prison…?
There’s more, but we save some back in order to get free booze by penalizing
you for those of which you are not aware of. It’s our way of saying we’re
really pleased you’ve joined us.
Buckle up gentlemen, you’re now part of the family.
