Managed to bird a bit at the house Sunday (9/15) on Black Oak Ridge in west
Knox Co. About 2 hrs before church starting at 6:45am yielded 38 species
including 8 warbler species. Added a Turkey Vulture when we came home after
lunch. Then at halftime of the Manning Bowl, I stepped out to the deck briefly
to see if I could get a Chimney Swift for #40. I did plus 2 more warblers and
a Scarlet Tanager for 43 species with 10 warblers. Not a bad day for a
1/2-acre lot, less than a mile from Cedar Bluff.

Migrants and highlights:
Chimney Swift, only 1
Ruby-throated Hummingbird, 4+
E Wood-Pewee, 3+
White-eyed Vireo, 1 singing again today
Red-eyed Vireo, 1
Gray Catbird, 1 FOF
Brown Thrasher, 1 FOF after the local breeders dispersed in July
Swainson's Thrush, 2+ (no nocturnal birding today)
Scarlet Tanager, 1
Rose-breasted Grosbeak, 1 FOF
Indigo Bunting, a few calling migrant flyovers with 1 stopping

Warblers, low numbers but good diversity, fewer flyovers than the last few days:
PRAIRIE, 1 FOY (missed them here in spring)
Am Redstart, 3+
Magnolia, 3+
Blackburnian, 1
Yellow-throated, 1
Black-throated Green, 1
Bay-breasted, 1, very cooperative
Chestnut-sided, 1
Black-and-white, 1-2
Hooded, 1
