The wind on Sunday and the storms Saturday night kept the shorebird change
over to low numbers but the 17 species seen Saturday were still present and 3
new species jacked the total up to 20 for Sunday. The first bird I put my
glasses on after arriving, looked like a sleeping Duck but NOT. A full breeding

plumaged Hudsonian Godwit put down by the storm decided to spend the day and
pleased at least 4 other birders and my self in the process. Bad weather =
Good Birds and usually with shorebirds it puts down large birds.

A breeding plumaged, male Black-bellied Plover, first alerted me with its
plaintive calling and was in stunningly crisp plumage. A single female Ruddy
Turnstone was also feather and color sharp! Wilson's Phalaropes were scattered
but at least 14 were present. A pair of Caspian Terns dropped in about 9:30
AM and spent the rest of the day and a Sora gave us great scope looks as it
fed along an open shoreline.

Hudsonian Godwits were also found in AR and KY in the last few days. I'll
post photos of the Godwit soon.

Good Birding !!!

What is this feathered thing that lifts my heart to the heavens.
