Spent about 30 minutes birding around the backyard and the woods behind the house before going to work this morning (11 April 2002). Had 4 warblers: Yellow-rumped, Black-throated Green, Yellow-throated and American Redstart --- the last two were new for the year and yard lists. Also added Chipping Sparrow to the yard list and had another one of those sporadic Purple Finch sightings. Last evening (10 April 2002), I was running around the woods and found several Horace's Duskywings (photographed a couple), Falcate Orangetips and an Eastern Comma (also photographed). (These are butterflies by the way :-) Had a couple of one of the larger species of May Beetles and some wild looking moths around the lights last night. Charlie, Allan, Reid or anyone else who might know... what are these critters that look almost exactly like lighting bugs but are larger and don't appear to have a light? They've been flying everywhere around the yard and woods for a couple of weeks now.
