It you birded, say, at Cove Lake State Park and then drove around for another hour or so, you should send in one checklist for the park and a separate one for birds seen after leaving the park rather than putting all your observations for the day in the Cove Lake SP hotspot.

If in your notes you have a detailed list for the hotspot (or any other specific location), then a bunch of checks for additional species seen on that dy, there's a simple way to handle this common situation and stay within eBird guidlines:

1. Report your detailed, complete checklist for the specific location on one checklist 2. Also report a separate "incidental observation" checklist with the added species for the larger more general area (perhaps even the entire county). Mark it as incomplete (check "no" for the "all species reported" question).

This presents your birding results for the day accurately and completely without arbitrarily sticking any birds in a precise location where they may not have actually been.
