It was a beautiful day for a walk along Lower Clear Creek Road in Anderson
County. This is the road that starts at the Grist Mill across 661 from the
Norris Dam Songbird Trail. The road follows Lower Clear Creek for .8 mile to
High Point Trail where the water treatment facility is located. The road is
shaded along most of its length so it's a good place to walk and get out of the
heat. I had two big surprises. Now a Louisiana Waterthrush is not really
surprising as they nest along the creek but I hadn't expected one to walk
across the road in front of me. Likewise, Acadian Flycatchers are found all
along the road but today was the first I saw one sitting on a nest hanging
right over the road about 10 feet up.
