Eagle Bend Fish Hatchery/ TWRA area Clinton, TN Anderson County- N. of Knoxville Harold Howell of Knoxville TOS and I birded Eagle Bend Fish Hatchery today from apx. 9:15 am- 10:45. It was cloudy with occasional light rain and windy. Best birds were -NORTHERN PINTAIL(F) / CANVASBACK (1) OSPREY (1) GREATER YELLOWLEGS (1) and a few AMERICAN PIPITS blowing about and "pip-pipping" overhead. Other ducks were SCAUP 8-10 /RING-NECKED DUCK (14) 3 GREEN -WINGED TEAL and 25+ Mallards. These were in the larger pond up on the hill to your right as you drive towards the back. Only 6 American Coot were present. The numbers of Canada Geese have increased to nearly 100. A banded goose held the ID number/letter of X88A (Black letters on white on the older type type round collar around the neck.) Savannah Sparrows were numerous. 2 Double-Crested Comorants were about as well as Kingfisher, a Great Blue Heron and an immature Red-Shoulder Hawk. Killder were well represented as well as Eastern Meadowlarks and Goldfinch.
