A great birding day! A Cerulean Warbler visited the water feature (yard bird
#135) followed by a Kentucky Warbler and a pair of Indigo Bunting. Several
Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks were around all day, and were joined by a male Summer
Tananger right on the deck railing and a female Scarlet Tanager and a Catbird
in the edge of the wood. The Red-headed Woodpecker is also back. Two male
turkeys displayed in front of a female for a long time, though she did not seem
to pay any attention (they did have very small beards). That makes up for the
now missing White-throated Sparrows that left at the beginning of the week,
although a surprise Dark-eyed Junco showed up on Monday. Ralph Brinkhurst,
Lebanon, Wilson County.
