Sylvia, and others, About 3 years ago Terry Witt reported the location of a pair of Bewick's Wrens in Wilson County to Tn-Bird. I went and saw a single bird there on 2 occasions. It was in a yard in a very rural/agricultural area. A nine year-old girl saw me lurking about with binoculars and asked "are you here to see that bird?" and showed me the spot. There is (or was?) a subspecies of Bewick's Wren that is restricted to the Southern Appalachians. I have no idea if birds in middle Tennessee would be that sub-species, but I would think not. I'm guessing it would probably be worth banding this species. And if anyone ever finds one dead, please get it to an ornithologist who has a salvage permit (most do) so the date, location, etc can be preserved with the bird. It is a species of concern in Tennessee. Charlie --- Rconnorsphoto@xxxxxxx wrote: > Sylvia, > When I lived on a farm in south-east Davidson county Bewick's Wren > was a > resident, breeding species.
