Dear all
I got a flier from the American Bird Conservancy about ways to keep birds
from flying into windows.

One of the resources they listed was for the Bird Screen Company
www.birdscreen.com

We just put some screens up on our bigger (more dangerous) windows.

I used their complete screen/hardware set-up on one window near the feeders
and the one that a Cardinal female loves to bang - she's stopped now.
That assembly is like mosquito screening and tight enough that birds will
bounce off.

For the others I'm trying an experiment. I bought a bunch of their hook
assemblies (Top Bracket Assembly Part# 25. Price $4.25), got some 1/4” mesh
screening from the local garden store (the stuff they sell to keep birds off
of berry bushes - $13.00 for 14' x 14'). I put 4 hooks in the corners of the
window, two with the hook up and the bottom two with the hook down, and
stretched the screen. It’s not bad to look through and disappears at a
distance. The birds won’t bounce off like Bird Screen Company's assembly but
knowing how maneuverable birds are, I’m sure they will see it before
smacking into the to glass.

If you have a problem window, check out www.birdscreen.com and report your
experience.
